Restoring and Developing Inch House

We are delighted to announce that Inch House has received a valuable grant from the

Architectural Heritage Fund aimed at securing its long-term future. At this stage, the grant will focus on exploring conservation-led options for restoring, and developing Inch House. Our ultimate goal is to see it grow into a strong, vigorous and sustainable community hub for the many people and communities that stand to benefit from it.

From July 2026, we have been engaging with people who currently use this much-loved

community centre, or may consider doing so in future. We want to hear your ideas and

suggestions about how we can achieve these goals.

We are also working with a Design Team led by Michael Collins Architects and CSY Architects, to carry out a survey of the building to look at what repairs and upgrades are needed. We also want to hear your ideas about how we can make better use of the spaces within the building and in the garden, and we plan to share some suggestions made by current users. This will enable us to bring more spaces into use, and generate much-needed income towards the costs of running Inch House. We will also be looking at ways of reducing running costs, including insulation and renewable energy generation, and improving the accessibility of the building on all floors.

Inch House has a very rich history, going back over 500 years. We want to work with you to

preserve this living heritage for generations to come. We are also keen to work with other local organisations and communities to support balanced and sensitive development of Inch Park, following the general guidelines set out by Edinburgh Council in its Inch Park Masterplan.
